WHAT IS THE ADIM ADIM RUN?

At the beginning of this year, Adım Adım (‘Step by Step’) has launched a new monthly running event in the Belgrade Forest: the ADIM ADIM RUN, a fun run that is held at 9:30 a.m. on the first Saturday of each month on the 6 km Neşet Suyu course, the main running/walking course in the forest. We invite anyone and everyone to come to the forest to run or walk and enjoy a little bit of friendly competition. The idea is to give everyone a chance to get used to running in timed events and to provide a little extra motivation for seasoned runners.

Competition? Race? This is about one’s own personal best, so the idea is for each participant to finish the race a little bit faster each month. As part of the Adım Adım challenge, we keep records of each runner’s/walker’s finish time, so that we can recognize and celebrate our progress.

While Adım Adım is a charity runners’ group, the Adım Adım Run is not a fund-raising event but merely seeks to introduce Adım Adım to the wider amateur running community by providing a friendly competitive environment for club and individual runners of all abilities - from running novices to ultra-marathoners.

What is Adım Adım?
Adım Adım is a volunteer-based social initiative run that promotes charitable giving through endurance sports like running, cycling, swimming and trekking. Formed in 2007, Adım Adım is today Turkey's biggest amateur running group with over one thousand members and remains the country’s only ‘charity runners’ group. In just over 3 years, members of Adım Adım have helped raise donations in excess of 1 million TL in conjunction with major running events and other sports competitions. Donations are raised on behalf of charitable organizations that have been previously reviewed and selected by Adım Adım for their social impact, transparency and accountability. So far, Adım Adım has selected four charities for whom its members help raise both awareness and funds: the Turkish Spinal Cord Injury Association (TOFD), the Turkish Educational Volunteers’ Foundation (TEGV), the Social Volunteers Foundation (TOG) and the Buğday Ecological Society. Adım Adım is the social responsibility partner of Turkey’s two biggest marathon events: the Istanbul Eurasia Marathon and the Runtalya Marathon in Antalya.

Aside from the monthly race, Adım Adım meets every Saturday at 9:30 in the Belgrade Forest for a training run. The weekly training run is followed by a  breakfast gathering. Anyone is welcome to join.
